The investment will be carried out on two short sections: Wałbrzych Miasto - Wałbrzych Fabryczny (4.7 km) and Sędzisław - Marciszów (6.2 km). Its aim is to raise the maximum speed of passenger trains from the current 50-60 to 100 km/h on the former section and from 100 to 120 km/h (a value in line with the design speed of the line) on the latter. Today's numerous speed restrictions are to be removed. There are also plans to extend the platforms to 300 m and to adapt the station tracks to accommodate trainsets of 600 m in length.
As part of the task, the road surface with ballast and subgrade reinforcement will be replaced and drainage will be carried out along a 14 km section. Eight level crossings between Walbrzych and Jelenia Gora will be rebuilt, as well as engineering structures: 17 culverts, two over 130-year-old bridges over the Beaver River, four viaducts in Walbrzych and a retaining wall.
23 km of overhead catenary will be replaced, and the upgraded section will be equipped with modern crossing and communications equipment to improve safety at crossings. The intersection of the road with the tracks in Walbrzych at Gwarków Street will be equipped with new horns and signals. The carriageway and pavements will be repaired. New LED lighting will be installed. The works will include crossings in Walbrzych on M. Reja street, Kasprzaka street and in Marciszów on Nadrzeczna street and Polna street.
