The construction of the installation terminal in Świnoujście is part of a key project for the Polish economy which focuses on energy transition towards the use of renewable energy sources, in particular from offshore wind farms. When completed, the terminal will be one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe. It will enable the installation of more than 80 offshore wind turbines per year and will be able to support the Baltic Power project as well as other planned investments.
As part of the investment, PORR S.A. will build elements of the terminal’s seaport infrastructure to adapt the quay to handle jack-up vessels. These specialised vessels will be used to transport state-of-the-art wind turbines composed of 150m long components which will be delivered by sea to the installation site after initial assembly at the quay. The terminal will also allow for the storage of other cargo of above-standard size and weight.
The scope of our work includes
- extension of quays 1 and 2 along 500 m,
- dredging of the entrance channel and seaport basin bringing ships to the quay to 12.5 m,
- the construction of quay no. 3 along approximately 300 metres, allowing for the further development of the installation terminal in the future.
