Under the contract, PORR will build a nearly 4-kilometre section of class G road on the north side of the A4 motorway. Together with the already completed connector between the Bochnia junction and Krzeczowska Street (stage I) and its continuation from the roundabout on Krzeczowska Street to Brzeska Street (stage II), it will help divert national road DW965 away from the city centre, thus easing the traffic along the north-south route.
The project involves the construction of three roundabouts: a four-way roundabout at the intersection of the existing DW965, a three-way traffic circle at the intersection of the planned class G regional road with the existing county road no. 1424K, and a three-way roundabout at the intersection of the planned DW965 with the connecting road for the “Bochnia” junction on the A4. County road 2110K will be extended while county road 1424K will be redeveloped. In addition, PORR will reinforce the existing overpass over the motorway and build a retaining structure of approximately 130 m.
The project will also include the construction of additional carriageways, the construction and redevelopment of exits and pavements, as well as development of cycle paths and footpaths. Moreover, PORR will build a new 172-metre bridge along DW965 over River Raba.
The new connector will relieve the city’s road network and significantly improve traffic flow in the Bochnia municipality by diverting transit traffic to the outskirts of the agglomeration. Thanks to the newly built section, residents of nearby towns will have easier access to both the DK94 and the A4 motorway, which connects the western and eastern borders of Poland.
The project is expected to be completed in Q4 2027.
