As part of the task, an dual carriageway expressway section of more than 10 kilometers with two lanes in each direction (with a reserve of land for the third lane) will be built. The pavement of the new road will be adapted to loads equal to 11.5 t / axle. The investment will include the construction of the Białystok West junction and the related reconstruction of the S8 road along approx. 1.9 km. The new junction will be built as a cloverleaf interchange and will connect two expressways - S19, which is under construction, and the existing S8. On the route, 13 engineering structures will be built, including two bridges - over the Supraśl and Biała rivers, and a railway viaduct over the Białystok - Ełk tracks.
Construction works will begin immediately after obtaining the permit for the road investment (ZRID), which is planned for the third quarter of 2022. The construction of the section will last until 2024.
Along with the signed contract, the fifth section of the Podlachian part of S19, which is part of the Via Carpatia route (a transport corridor connecting the Baltic states, via Białystok, Lublin and Rzeszów, with southern Europe) goes to implementation.
Almost a billion for the Podlachian sections of S19
So far, PORR has signed contracts for two sections of the S19 express road in Podlasie, for a total amount of approx. PLN 930 million. The implementation of the first of them - an almost 16-kilometer section running from the Polish border with Belarus in Kuźnica to Sokółka, will run parallely to the construction of the Krynice - Dobrzyniewo - Białystok West section and will end in 2024.
