By performing the task, PORR will build 84.7 kilometres of the southern high-pressure pipeline with a diameter of 700 mm. Works will be conducted from the border of the mazowieckie voivodeship, around km 72.5, until around km 157.2, in the municipality Mały Płock, a village called Rudka-Skroda.

On the Polish side, the designed route of the Poland – Lithuania pipeline has been divided into two sections located in the podlaskie, mazowieckie and warmińsko – mazurskie voivodeships. The course of the 158-km-long southern section, a fragment of which falls within PORR’s responsibility, will run from the compressor station in Hołowczyce to the Shut-Off and Relief Valve System (ZZU) Rudka-Skroda. The 185-km-long northern section has been set out from ZZU Rudka-Skroda to the Lithuanian border. On the Polish side, the pipeline is ca. 343 km long, on the Lithuanian side - about 165 km.

„Signing the final contracts for construction works for GIPL means, that we have a full set of contractors for that project. All along the pipeline route, the investment project is in its execution stage. The Poland – Lithuania interconnector project provides a stimulus for boosting the development of the economy in north-east Poland and for energy security of the Baltic Sea region countries”, said Artur Zawartko, Vice-President of GAZ-SYSTEM’s Management Board. „The southern GIPL section’s contractors are companies specialised in constructing gas pipeline infrastructure, with whom our company has already cooperated on other projects”, added Zawartko.

„The construction of the Poland-Lithuania pipeline is yet another project on which we have the chance to work in cooperation with GAZ-SYSTEM. The contract, which has just been signed, as well as the tasks entrusted to us in the first term of this year for the construction of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście, are of vital importance for our country’s energy security. Since we are fully aware of that, our commitment to the execution of those tasks is even stronger”, said Piotr Kledzik, President of PORR S.A.’s Management Board.

So far, PORR has delivered to GAZ-SYSTEM the 114-km-long pipeline Lwówek-Odolanów. Currently, the 54-km-long pipeline DN 1000 Tworóg-Tworzeń is being completed. A further project performed for the GAZ-SYSTEM Group is the extension of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście, which will allow to increase its regasification capacity by 50%.
