Increasingly popular thermal treatment facilities are an important part of a closed-loop economy, allowing the energy potential of mixed municipal waste to be realized and reducing landfilling, which is increasingly costly and restrictive.
The task, carried out by a consortium of PORR and Termomeccanica Ecologia, includes the construction of both the technological part of the thermal waste processing plant and the construction part. The plant itself will consist of one process line with a capacity of 100,000 Mg of waste per year. It will install a grate steam boiler with a nominal thermal power of about 43 MWt and a steam extraction-condensing turbine coupled to a generator with an electrical power of about 11 MWe.
The project will also include the construction of facilities necessary for the operation of the plant, including the unloading hall and bunker hall, boiler room, engine room, compressor room, process water treatment station and control room building, among others. Associated infrastructure will include sheds, canopies, overpasses for unloading, roads, sidewalks, yards and technological installations.
The implemented project will significantly affect the closure of the municipal waste management system and will contribute to the modernization of the energy generation infrastructure in the City of Gorlice. Thanks to the advanced technological solutions used in it, the installation will be completely safe for the environment and residents.
