Consortium with PORR as leader will modernize airport in Swidwin

Warsaw, 6.10.2023 - The 17th Territorial Airfield Division in Gdansk has signed a contract with a consortium of PORR S.A. (leader) and Elektrobud Grudziądz (partner) for the modernization of airport pavements at the 21st Tactical Air Force Base in Świdwin. The contract, worth more than PLN 258 million gross, will be completed by the end of 2026.

According to the contract, the consortium of PORR and Elektrobud Grudziądz will perform the modernization of more than 300,000 m2 of airport surfaces - including the runway, taxiway, as well as parking planes, engine test planes and a car road connecting the cargo plane with the taxiway. In addition to the work involving the modernization and reconstruction of the surface along with the technical infrastructure, the scope of work also includes the purchase and installation of a certified BAK-14M system on both directions of the runway and the reconstruction of the lighting system, including the construction of new 20-meter-high poles with a lowering crown or the modernization of the CALVERT system on direction 29.

The investment is a stage in the adaptation of the Swidwin base to accommodate the fifth-generation F-35 multirole fighters. The entire task is spread over several years so that the base will be ready for the arrival of the first aircraft, which is expected in 2026.The full scope of work covered by the contract will be completed in Q4 2024.
