PORR will rebuild the Knapówka stop on the Central Coal Line

Warsaw, 5.12.2022 - PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (Polish Railways) has signed a contract with PORR S.A. for the reconstruction of the Knapówka branch stop on railroad line No. 4 (Central Coal Line). The task will be completed in 13 months. The value of the signed contract is PLN 45 million gross.

The contract titled. "Modernization of Railway Line No. 4 - Central Coal Main Line, Phase II" includes PORR's design and construction work. As part of the work, the Knapówka stop, located at km 160.588 of LK4, will be rebuilt, which will allow it to be adapted to high speeds (up to 250 km/h).

The scope of work includes replacement of five turnouts (High Speed) with inserts, construction of track superstructure on reinforced subgrade in tracks 1 and 2, construction of a new control room building with connections, reconstruction of internal and external SRK devices, installation of EOR devices in turnouts, reconstruction of lighting around the control room, accompanying works in the field of teletechnology and electrical power engineering. Construction work will begin later this year.

The reconstruction of the Knapówka stop is the next stage of the modernization of the Central Railway Line, which has been underway for years. The contract won is the fifth project carried out by PORR on CMK in the past five years.
