The scope of the extension of the Terminal’s onshore part covers the construction of a new – third – FCT, that is ‘full containment tank’, for the process storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with a nominal capacity of 180 000 m3 as well as the construction of all necessary systems and devices connecting that tank to the other facilities of the Terminal. With the acquired decision, a new electrical substation will also be built, as well as a BOG compressor building, flyovers, process pipelines, necessary roads and related systems.
The new tank is designed to store liquefied natural gas in an operating temperature of ca. -162°C, and its exterior diameter will amount to 83.6 m. That means, that it will be bigger than each of the two tanks currently in operation on Terminal premises.
Works will be carried out in accordance with the strictest technological regime, which was imposed, because the works are to be performed on the premises of an operating plant of strategic importance for the country. It is planned to complete the investment project by the end of 2023.
