BER12 Data Center

In Ludwigsfelde near Belin, PORR is in charge of the construction of a database known as BER12.

The contract between PORR and Vantage Data Centers, one of the world’s largest players in the IT industry, was concluded in the Design & Build formula.

The undertaking will take approximately 19 months to complete. Over that time, we will build a modern two-storey building with extensive technological space on the roof as well as warehousing and office space encompassing 11,400 sqm. The critical infrastructure required for the data centre will consist of CRAH units, a critical cooling system, generators, Juice Boxes, chillers, two independent power lines and many other very important components.

To ensure the best possible outcome of our work, we have been using LEAN tools on the BER12 construction site since the very beginning. These include, first and foremost, on-site activity planning - both on a daily basis (Daily Activities Briefing) as well as weekly forward planning, the so-called 6-week look ahead. In this way, we can optimise processes accordingly, reduce unnecessary expenditure, and ensure the highest level of safety and the quality of our work.
